This book contains an introduction of information on Engineer Ratings and Officer Credential Endorsements and a general study guide.To avoid duplication, please be advised that much of the information in Chapters 1,2, and 4 also appears in our Workboat Engineer Volume 4.
This book was prepared for the newly announced ratings of QMED Refrigerating Engineer as well as for Electrician and Junior Engineer ratings.
As a result of significant changes MET completely revised the QMED Electricity Chapter and added Refrigeration to comply with the final rulemaking the appeared in the Federal Register of Dec. 24, 2013.The Coast Guard implemented the 2010 amendments to the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers known as STCW.While doing so, they also changed hundreds of Electrical questions and answers as well as replacing many existing illustrations.We kept some of the older illustrations for instructional purposes and added the new illustrations that the Coast Guard released to the public.
